Literacy at Evatt

Literacy is fundamental to constructing and communicating knowledge and understanding across all areas of learning.

Literacy is Evatt is taught as part of our "literacy block" each morning. Our method is rooted in explicit instruction, ensuring students receive clear, direct guidance in language and communication skills.

This is broken down into three key components:

• Spelling/phonics
• Writing
• Language & Comprehension

All components of our literacy program are explicitly taught through the Evatt Core Instructional Model.

Central to our literacy program is the concept of knowledge building.  By nurturing this foundational knowledge, students develop critical thinking skills and a lifelong appreciation for literature and communication.

Extension and intervention are also offered based on student need
